Diaphasic varieties of language: sectorial languages in contemporary Italian

One of the main impulses why we decided to focus our attention on a diaphasic variety of Italian language, which is formed by technical styles, is their contemporaneous spread and dissemination. Still more and more Italian linguists who have been studying this phenomenon with ever more increasing interest for several decades are attracted by this phenomenon. On the other hand, it is necessary to stress that a complex dynamics of technical styles is inseparably connected with a specific development the Italian language is coming through. In our considerations we come out out of the gradually changing optics and a completely new methodological approach. Italian linguists started to apply this approach at the beginning of 90's and in time when the most important works of M. Cortelazzo, M. Dardano, A. A. Sobrero and G. Berruto concentrating on this phenomenon were issued. It is indisputable that their studies, although they were predominantly developing rather along the horizontal axis than a vertical one, contributed considerably to the spread and deepening of the former benchmark, which was characteristic for the avant-garde survey of G. L. Beccaria I linguaggi settoriali in Italia (1973). This turning-point work is possible to be considered a first continuous and complex study devoted to the problems of technical languages in Italy. Within a synchronous orientation approach, which we prefer in our contribution, first, we outline the main, particular elements, by which the technical styles of language differ from the other - diaphasic variety of language, which is formed by linguistic registers. Subsequently, we focus our attention on a constant interactive relation and on a vigorous just running process of mutual overlapping of these two concurrent antipoles, while seeking to properly stress a dominant role of English interfering still deeper and deeper into an overall structure of contemporary Italian.
