Literature Confronting Racism in Contemporary Intellectual Discourse in Quebec
In this paper we will present the main lines of the debate around the idea of racism as approached by authors such as Pierre Nepveu, Marco Micone, Rodney Saint-Éloi, Natasha Kanapé Fontaine, and Dany Laferrière. Drawing on recent research by Sean Mills and David Austin, as well as in the context of the debate on the decolonization of Canadian history, the aim is to show the emergence of a new, more open, and direct approach to the problem of Quebec's relationship to otherness, as opposed to the political radicalization that we are observing nowadays. Based on the methodological tools of discourse analysis, this study will also aim to show the role of writing and literature in the fight against xenophobia and racism in Quebec.
