Le basi filosofiche del Circolo Linguistico di Praga negli anni ’60 del XX secoloItalian

The philosophical bases of Prague Linguistic Circle during the 60's of the XX century

Fabio RIPAMONTI

Écho des études romanes 2013, 9(1):5-17 | DOI: 10.32725/eer.2013.001

Within the Prague Linguistic Circle there is a small number of philosophical currents (structuralism, phenomenology, functionalism) that have influenced its activities from the classical period (1926-1938). The reflection on these currents was so profound that continued even in the 60's, proving fruitful comparisons with the Marxist dialectic and with the development of phenomenology in Czechoslovakia without betraying the original setting. In this way, the Circle was able to develop an original way of conceiving the language where it is possible to find influences from the thought of that period.

The use of subjuntive/indicative with the operator quizás(s): corpus analysis

Miroslava AUROVÁ

Écho des études romanes 2013, 9(1):19-33 | DOI: 10.32725/eer.2013.002

The present article deals with the modality operator quizás in Spanish: this operator is presented as a phrase adverb modifying the epistemic modality and triggering thus the selection of the mood, indicative or sujbunctive; then its functions within the uterrance are examined. The main aim is, nonetheless, to present the statistics of the use of either indicative or subjunctive mood. The concurrence of both moods has been analyzed on the Spanish synchronic corpus (CREA) and into the analysis all geografical zones included within the corpus have been involved.

L’humour comme altérité communicationnelle: de la définition à la typologieFrench

Humor as communicative otherness: from definition to typology

El¿bieta BIARDZKA, Ewa PARTYKA

Écho des études romanes 2013, 9(1):35-49 | DOI: 10.32725/eer.2013.003

The subject of this work is the verbal humor perceived as a peculiar, unexpected (entropic) aberration from communicational rules. Those rules are derived from the complex, «systemic» communicational model (Jakobson) modified by adding inferential models (Grice, Kerbrat-Orecchioni). The typology of humors covered in this work includes emotive humor, conative humor, poetic humor, phatic humor etc.; but also intentional (pragmatic) humor (based on the violation of the cooperative principle).

Karine DOUPLITZKY

Écho des études romanes 2013, 9(1):65-85 | DOI: 10.32725/eer.2013.005

This paper examines Rabelais's many linguistic references to the mouth - both as an organ of taste and a tool of language. It also offers connexions between the grotesque body as described by Rabelais and the iconographic context of the French Renaissance that provides different representations of the mouth.

De l’autobiographie à l’historiosophie. Ballanche et la figure romantique de l’homme universelFrench

From autobiography to historiosophy. Ballanche and the Romantic figure of the universal man

Daniel S. LARANGÉ

Écho des études romanes 2013, 9(1):87-105 | DOI: 10.32725/eer.2013.006

The metaphor of the universal man merges with the providential man in the French romanticism. The example of the Ballanche's use of this figure is characteristic for the whole period: the writer embodies a pattern of the society and his life and thoughts reflect the time he lives in. This identification stems from the close relationship developed between the "I" and the world. This link allows to use autobiography as a historiosophical resource. The poetic activity can claim to political legitimacy: the poet becomes a prophet of his time.

Monsieur Vénus di Rachilde: il regime dell’ 'entre'Italian

Rachilde's novel Monsieur Vénus: the "entre" regime

Patrizia LO VERDE

Écho des études romanes 2013, 9(1):107-118 | DOI: 10.32725/eer.2013.007

While Rachilde's work is rightly part of the great lineage contributing to the renewal of the novelistic genre, remaining classic from the point of view of the exploitation of narrative techniques, the modern importance given to the writing of the body, as a place of inscription of an aporetic desire or of an insoluble conflict between the feminine and the masculine, opens up stimulating paths of reflection. In this sense, in his famous "materialist novel", Monsieur Vénus, Rachilde creates a whole network of images that shape a new poetics of the body, indifferent to doxa and irreducible to the transparency of the Cartesian cogito.

Trauma and the fight against fate: L'île de la demoiselle and La cage by Anne Hebert

Dora LEONTARIDOU

Écho des études romanes 2013, 9(1):133-146 | DOI: 10.32725/eer.2013.009

The paper deals with two Anne Hebert's dramas The cage and L'île de la Demoiselle. These dramatic plays are inspired from the tragic incidents of two women's lives, who were historical persons: Marguerite de la Roque, who lived in France in the 16th century and Marie-Josephte Corriveau, who lived in Canada in the 18th century. Their tragic lives formed the core for a short story of Marguerite de Navarre about Marguerite de la Roque, and a series of books and songs in French and English about the legend of Corriveau. These stories are restored in the texts of Anne Hebert, through a procedure that enlightens the ambiance and the mentalities...

Fonctionnalité et symbolisation de l’arbre dans les contes ouest africains d’expression françaiseFrench

Functionality and symbolization of the tree in the French language West African tales

Yao Lambert KONAN

Écho des études romanes 2013, 9(1):147-153 | DOI: 10.32725/eer.2013.010

The representation of tree in the narrative oral texts (myths, legends and tales) is closely linked to ethnographic context (natural environment, believes, traditions and institutions). This study has thus showed and confirmed that tree is protective, nourishing and sacred. Beyond these functions, this plant is located to the frontier of worlds, in a kind of "No man's land" between the domain of humans and "the other world" those of supernatural forces or spirits. Symbol of culture and of the nature, symbol par excellence of the passage from simple to complex, from unique to multiplicity, the tree reveals to have an initiating power, because it represents...
