Polysemy, major element of legal terminology according to G. Cornu. A recent example of legislative treatment of this phenomenon in Czech law
This paper deals with the linguistic phenomenon of polysemy and its presence in legal language. The author is interested in the possibilities of its treatment in the sense of disambiguation of the legal text. After a delimitation of the subject, the paper presents primarily some theoretical observations of G. Cornu, who analysed the presence of this phenomenon in detail in his book Linguistique juridique. Secondly, the paper proposes a concrete example of the legislative treatment of polysemy taken from the new Czech Civil Code.
