The paper describes the beginnings and development of relations between French and Czech scientists in the field of phonetics. First, it presents scholars who were at the beginning of the development forming of phonetics in the Czech environment, and are associated with the creation or subsequent of the Institute of Phonetics, which was established at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University.
